Advanced hand-rearing formula

Specifically designed for parrots as a complete hand-rearing formula – but suitable for all birds. Suitable for use from hatching through to weaning.

Veterinary formulated to ensure precise nutrition in baby birds. Contains all necessary vitamins, minerals, calcium, and amino acids for growing bones, organ function, and strong feather development. Also contains Vetafarm Synbiotic – providing both probiotics to promote healthy gut flora and predigestives to increase gut efficiency and ensure maximum absorption of nutrients. Extrusion cooked for safety and increased digestibility.

Includes a measuring scoop.

Fresh batches of Neocare must be mixed each feed.

Do not use a microwave to heat the formula.

The temperature of food fed to babies (irrespective of age) should be between 38–41ºC.

For hatchlings and babies under five days old: Always start with a runny mix. Add two small level scoops of formula to a cup, then add one large scoop and one small scoop of boiling water. Mix thoroughly using a fork for 30 seconds until an even consistency is achieved. It is very important to ensure that you mix using a fork, using the back side of the fork to push through and stir the mixture. Ensure the formula is a smooth consistency and that there are no dry lumps. Check temperature and feed. Over the next 48 hours, mix new feeding amounts by using a bit more of the formula, until on day five, the consistency described below is achieved.

For babies five days or older: Add one large, level scoop of formula to a jar or cup, then add one large scoop of boiling water. Mix thoroughly using a fork for 30 seconds until a thick and consistent paste is formed. It is very important to ensure that you mix using a fork, using the back side of the fork to push through and stir the mixture. Add three small scoops of cool water and mix for two minutes or until an even consistency is achieved. Check temperature and feed.

The age and species of birds being raised affects the amount and frequency of feeds. Be sure to research the requirements of your individual birds thoroughly before you begin. As a rule, the last feed of the day should be late at night, around 10–11pm, and the next feed early the following morning at approximately 5–6am. It is important to note that at the first feed of the day the crop should be completely empty. The crop should be allowed to empty completely once every 24 hours.
