Freeze-dried vegetable chop for your feathered friends. Mix it up without the mess - variety your parrot will love, convenience you'll appreciate.

  • Chop is available in two options - sliced or grated. All vegetables are cooked or blanched before being freeze-dried.
  • Some TOP's Mini pellets are added to the bag when your order is packed.
  • As an optional extra, a healthy seed mix can also be added to your bag when the order is packed.

You can use the chop as a treat for your parrots or you can try using it as a conversion aid to pellets. Sprinkle it on top of the birds' existing food or offer as a treat when you are having your own dinner. You can also add some water in the bowl to rehydrate the vegies (just keep in mind that pellets and seeds would get wet too).

See 'Ingredients' below for what is in the vegetable mix and what is in our seed mix. Ingredients may change with seasonal availability.

The seed and vegetable mixes cannot be altered to your needs because they are made in bulk.

If you want to pick specific fruit or vegetables in specific amounts, then please purchase the Pick and Mix products.

Photos show the size of the scoop (about 70 mL - demonstrated here with a scoop of blueberries), the size of the spoon (20 mL - demonstrated here with a spoon of the fine seed mix), and the sizes of the big and small bags. Each bag is packed with an oxygen absorber to preserve freshness (make sure no one tries to eat this packet!).

The big bag dimensions are 15cm x 25cm x 5cm. It will contain 8 scoops of chop, 4 spoons of pellets, and, if you select this, 4 spoons of seeds.

The small bag dimensions are 10cm x 15cm x 5cm. It will contain 2 scoops of chop, 1 spoon of pellets, and, if you select this, 1 spoon of seeds.

Feeding Instructions

Because the vegetables are airy and crunchy, they can be fun for the birds to eat as is and can be offered as a treat. Most birds will need a small amount each day - consider that formulated pellets should be about 80% of the bird's diet.

You can rehydrate the vegies by adding a very small amount of water to them and leaving it for about half an hour, then offering as fresh.

Storage

The vegetables are packed in sealed Mylar bags which help preserve the shelf life of the product until it arrives to you. You can transfer the food into another container or use the bag ziploc to reseal it.

The bags are packed with an oxygen absorber packet. Make sure no one tries to eat it! Oxygen absorber reacts with the oxygen in the packet and releases nitrogen. Because the oxygen is removed, there can be no bacterial growth and oxidation. As long as the bag is sealed and re-sealed, the absorber keeps working. Once the oxygen absorber packet has become rock-hard, it's been used up - the chemical reaction has finished and will not be able to absorb any more oxygen.

When the vegies are becoming soft, it means they've absorbed some moisture from the air and this means they should be used up soon.
