Small finches approximately 15 g in bodyweight require minimum 2 g of crumbles per day. This constitutes 10% of their diet. The remainder can be evenly split between insects and seeds (such as millet). Omnivorous finches require insect protein supplementation when breeding.

Average budgies approximately 40 g in bodyweight require minimum 4 g of crumbles per day. This constitutes 10% of their diet. The remainder can be fruit, vegetables, and seeds (such as millet).
